This morning we woke up to the ship entering through a narrow gap in the reef around Raiatea and Tahaa islands. It must be a very sobering experience for a sea captain to purposely bring his ship so close to a reef. The channel is well marked however and we slowly zig zaged our way back into the dock in main town of Uturoa. This is a modern city compared to Bora Bora but that is not saying much. Because this was the first time a Holland America ship has called here they made a big deal of it with a lot of authentic Tahitian drumming and dancing with our captain and first officers and their wives as the guests of honor. I took a lot of pictures and will share a few here. Meanwhile Mike and Kimberly and Arlyene did a hike up the side of a peak nearby and had a nice view downwards into the city. We were all back aboard by 1 pm or so. Ship sails for Mo'orea at 6 pm tonight.
