We Are Home

After a 12 hour trip back from Maui we are back at Lake Pleasant.  A great trip.  Had lots of fun and rest.  Still some snow on the ground here but nothing compared to what we "missed".  NORV weathered the storm well and we were able to open up again with no issues.

It appears that Denita is sold.   We are hoping to have the deal closed by February 1st.  One less thing to worry about.  After 12 years of ownership and 10 great years living aboard full time we have mixed feelings about seeing her go but it is time.

Sticking close to home for a couple months now.  Possible road trip last half of April and  May.  Nothing firm yet.

Sunset Whale Watching

Here are a few pictures of our whale watching trip yesterday.  They pretty much speak for themselves.

The next two pictures are of a whale that swam under the boat and came up and blew right beside it.

Maui Monday Update

Every morning someone does something creative like this with blossoms that have fallen overnight.

We all went to Larry and Linda's room to watch the 49ers lose yesterday but the view from their balcony during the breaks was excellent.  Many whales out there but mostly far off.  Today at 4:00 pm we are scheduled for a whale watching boat ride for a couple of hours.  Hope to see some up close then.  A bit overcast today but only 20% chance of showers.  Of course that is all relative to what we could be enjoying back home.........

What we missed ???

According to our daughter Mary this is what we missed in Seattle.  Darn!

We are getting ready to watch the 49 ers game, then maybe we will hold down the beach for awhile if there is time left.

Well, yes, we feel guilty but we are managing.

Out the coach window before we left.  (It got a lot worse but we were not there to participate.)
The view from our deck on the 5th floor of the hotel.  Yes, we feel guilty.

The rest of these pictures are from a short driving tour we took in the car yesterday up the road to the north of the hotel.

I guess we could not have picked a better time to come to Hawaii.  One more day and we might not have made it.  The only real delay we suffered was a 30 minute wait for the deicing truck to come and spray down our plane, then we were off.  It seemed a little insensitive to post these pictures at the height of the storm and I know many people are still without power.  Thus the delay in making this posting.  On one hand we feel really lucky to be here but somehow it feels like we should be back in Seattle suffering with everyone else.  I guess we will just have to hold up under the pressure.

So far we have gone to Lahaina for lunch once and the short drive up north.  In between we have eaten too much and sat around a lot.  There are lots and lots of whales out in the channel and we are hoping to do a whale watching boat in the next couple of days.  Hopefully we will have some good pictures from that.  Maybe a sunset or two too and some snorkeling.

Hawaii Minus One

This is NOT the way we had hoped to start our trip.  Traveling to the airport Doubletree today.  Hoping for a clear freeway.

This is the current picture closest to where we are.  Could be worse.  Hope the temps stay above freezing and the snowfall tapers off.

Hawaii Minus Two

What a great time to head for the tropics.  Although or plane does not leave until Monday morning we are headed to a hotel near the airport tomorrow to get a one day head start on our vacation and hopefully stay ahead of the snow so that it does not keep us from making our flight.  We have all day tomorrow to get there if necessary and my 4WD truck for insurance.  We WILL get there.

How's this for contrast?
